Why Metadata Matters

Metadata is descriptive information that describes a resource.  Metadata allows for a resource to be discoverable by others in the future. Tropy and Omega are valuable to digital humanities practitioners working with metadata by helping them organize and sort information in relation to a specific resource. These programs help to preserve the details that may be useful to digital humanists of the future. Context is important for creating  metadata. The kitchen items I recorded could provide insight as to the eating habits of individuals living in the 21st century.
