Day in the Life:
- Monroe starts her day at 6am in the campus gym. She prefers to get breakfast with her friends at the cafe before going back to her dorm. Monroe prefers evening classes because they allow her to study in the library until her first class at noon. Monroe grabs a quick dinner after finishing her last class, which ends at 5:30pm. That leaves her enough time to get to Hawkins Hall for the university’s Black Student Alliance meeting. Monroe ends her night falling asleep to the audiobook for her favorite romantic novel.
End goals:
Monroe attends a predominantly white institution and has found it difficult to find a community of Black historians. She hopes to find a platform that connects her with other Black historians across the country, enables online discourse, and provides professional/academic opportunities.
Derron Little, II

Day in the Life:
- Derron starts his morning by preparing breakfast for his two daughters while his wife sleeps. Derron helps his daughters get ready before driving them to the bus stop. Derron returns home and lets out the family dog, Perry, while he prepares his wife’s lunch. Derron is working on the interview questions for the next episode of his podcast from home. He wishes his wife a productive day of work as she leaves at 9:45am. Derron, Perry, and Derron’s laptop spend the day on the couch in his office until school lets out. Derron drives to pick up his daughters from school and takes them to dance practice. Derron returns to his work after his wife helps the girls with their homework. After enjoying “Pizza Friday” dinner, Derron puts his daughters to bed and watches a show with his wife as a nightcap.
End goals:
- Derron is seeking a platform that connects him with other Black historians. Furthermore, Derron is seeking an intern with a background in history and experience in video production.
